About Brandon Awbrey
Dr. Awbrey is a Licensed Professional Counselor and has served as a counselor educator since 2015. Prior to living in Abilene, he worked since 2002 for South Plains College as a counselor and adjunct instructor. He has also worked with incarcerated youth and children of domestic violence. Dr. Awbrey holds a PhD in Counseling Education and is a Professor of Psychology and Counseling at Hardin-Simmons University.
His primary clinical focus is on empowerment and resilience for those dealing with depression, anxiety, grief, substance abuse recovery, relationship issues, or other major life adjustment. Dr. Awbrey’s work helps clients discover ways to find the power to change what can be changed, or to find the strength to endure what must be endured.
To accomplish this, Dr. Awbrey utilizes an integrative therapeutic approach that combines several proven models and techniques of counseling to help clients with various needs. Primarily he draws from Solution-focused, Cognitive-Behavioral, Family Systems, and Mindfulness-based approaches.
