About Brenna Camp

I have worked as a counselor since the year 2000, and as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 2005. During this time I have worked as a therapist in adoption settings, behavioral health hospitals and private practice. I have taught college courses in social work, supervised social workers in process of becoming independent counselors. I am originally from San Antonio, Texas, where people of many cultures live together, and this shaped my love for cross cultural experiences. In later life I had the joy of experiencing cultures in their original settings, traveling in Europe, Russia, and Latin America.

As a therapist, I have had the opportunities to work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I have had the privilege to walk alongside clients who are experiencing life adjustments (minor and major), clients who have experienced a series of small traumatic life experiences and/or large traumatic life experiences, clients experiencing depression, anxiety, bipolar, addiction, or the addiction of a loved one. Most people need a trusted person who can process with them any life event outside of our normal range of experiences. Addiction, trauma, grief, death of loved ones, or even a life change can shake us to the core of our emotions or identity.

As I walk alongside clients who have had these experiences or others, I like to use expressive therapy (which includes identifying emotions, art, nature, spirituality) and solution focused therapy. The foundation of my therapeutic approach focuses on identifying our basic core of goodness, which is our True Self, and working to shed those parts of ourselves that interfere with living from the core of who we are. Traumatic experiences, wounds, and the losses and transitions (even positive ones) over a lifetime can eventually cloud our ability to live from our True Self. I desire to walk alongside clients and help them to eliminate these barriers and come to believe in and live from their own basic goodness.
